The Terang Community Op Shop has been recognised for its outstanding fundraising contributions to the local community.

The hard working volunteers at the Terang Community Op Shop received two awards at the Wannon region National Volunteer Awards ceremony following nomination by the Terang & Mortlake Health Service.

Op shop director Andrea Balcombe received a Members of Parliament Award while the op shop as a whole, received the Group Volunteers Award. Both awards were were presented by Make a Wish Foundation volunteer Gail Jaensch and Wannon MP Dan Tehan.

The op shop has donated $250,000 to the Terang and district community in the past five years with the money assisting the hospital, schools, nursing homes and other community groups.

“We all just have a lot of fun – no one expects any thanks, but it is nice that people appreciate us” Ms Balcombe said “We don’t do it to be recognised but it is lovely.”
